welcome
My hope is that the therapeutic process is one of connecting with yourself. Gaining new insights and stepping into change authentically and with meaning. That may look different for all, which is why it is a very personalized experience. Goals can range from wanting to work on specific symptoms, to dealing with transitions, grief, relationships, trauma or just mere self-exploration.
Our human journey is a complex one and we all deserve to have guidance and education on what is happening and why. Unfortunately, we may not have gotten an education or mentoring in these ways and therapy gives you an opportunity to become informed and more aware. This then gives you the insight to move from unconscious response to more conscious and connected ways of being. Our lives, energy and time are too valuable to live and execute without consciousness. We are always capable of change and new understanding. If this feels like the right time and possible fit for you, reach out to consult with me.
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR therapy is considered a new, nontraditional form of psychotherapy. Therapists mostly use it to treat PTSD or trauma responses, but it can also be used for phobias, blocking beliefs and other stuck points.
This therapeutic approach utilizes sensory input to assist those struggling with trauma by unblocking emotional processes that have been stagnated due to distress. Unblocking their emotions allows patients to reprogram their brains, providing the opportunity to begin healing from the fear and pain that were brought about by the trauma and emotional distress that they endured. Throughout EMDR therapy sessions, individuals will relive their traumatic experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs their bilateral stimulation. This form of therapy can also help individuals gain a new perspective while simultaneously improving their self-esteem and strengthening their personal beliefs about their capabilities.
